List of darknet markets & vendor shops for investigators #3
by Maciej Makowski
This time around I included some examples of dark web vendor shops, after a reader quite rightly pointed out to me that I previously did not really make a distinction between darknet markets and vendor shops.
Essentially, darknet markets are those big, centralized entities with a decentralized host of sellers and buyers of varieties of illegal goods.
Vendor shops on the other hand are smaller, less diverse in what they sell and usually ran by one criminal – pretty much like a supermarket and a corner shop comparison in real life, but catering for the illicit clientele.
So here is the recent list:
- ASAP Market
- Aurora Market
- Corona Market (new onion)
- Cypher Market
- Daeva Market
- Dark Leak Market
- Duck CVV
- DutchDrugz Psychedelicum Market (announced that it would retire soon)
- Express Pharma
- Global Dreams
- Smokers Co.
- Steroid Warehouse
- Tom and Jerry
- Tor Market (new onion)
- The Grass Company
- Vice City
Televend is a symbol of the shifting landscape of dealing in controlled substances.
It began operating in mid-2020 – it’s not a traditional DNM, but describes itself as a “fully automated vendor shop bot powered by Telegram for direct-dealers”.
This service claims to offer protection from exit scams and DDoS. Instead of being a monolithic centralized entity, it aggregates various vendors present on Telegram.
Investigating something like Televend does require a switch in approach – one must realise that this entity operates on the crossroads between the dark web and clearnet.
Telegram OSINT techniques will be key – and I will cover some of those in the near future…
