Abstract
The advent of recent and different web browsers brings both convenience and challenges to the forensic investigation team. This cutting-edge research delves deep into the forensic trails left behind by the Tor Browser on the latest Windows 11 operating system. Anonymous browsing is a double-edged sword. The Tor Browser allows people to surf the web privately, which is great for protecting online privacy. However, that same anonymity also attracts criminal activities to the dark underbelly of the internet. This research dives into the forensic traces left behind by Tor Browser usage on Windows 11 systems. By understanding how artifacts are created, digital investigators can more effectively analyze devices and gather evidence related to nefarious activities conducted over Tor. The key goal is to demystify how Tor interacts with the operating system from a forensics perspective. Getting insights into the techniques employed by cybercriminals and the digital trails they leave can help law enforcement stay one step ahead.
