Dear Readers,

Welcome to our newest issue! The impact of IoT on digital forensics is still growing and we just couldn’t resist devoting this month’s edition to IoT Forensics, and everything that is connected with this topic. Some time ago we published an issue in which we went on a journey into Internet of Things, called Forensics of Things, but time flies and we have to stay up to date in this rapidly changing world!

In this publication you can find a nice bunch of articles dedicated to various aspects of IoT. The article by Alan Roder is “IoT - Past, Present and what to come”, and it’s a perfect combination of an interesting, educative article that’s also fun! Check it out for yourself :)

Next we go with the work of Ranjitha R - “IoT: the architecture, protocols, and devices”, “IoT Forensics: opportunities and challenges” by Florence Love Nkosi, and “Internet of Vehicles: Vulnerabilities on the Road: Analysis of Automotive Attack surfaces” by Deepak VIJAYAKUMAR, described by our reviewers as a real eye-opener. We hear so much about car hacking, but this article had details on the technical aspects of it - which gave a clear picture of what we are really up against.

But IoT is not all we are covering in this edition! You must check Rachael Medhurst’s write-up, entitled “Is there a need for technical juries to create a fair trial for suspects?”, Johan Scholtz’s article on early warning systems and the paper by Jim Hoerricks “Statistics for Forensic Analysts: a study validating the use of on-line micro learning to increase the statistical literacy of digital/multimedia forensic analysts”.

We hope that you enjoy reading this issue! As always, huge thanks to all the authors, reviewers, to our amazing proofreader, and of course you, our readers for staying with us! :)

Enjoy the reading,

Dominika Zdrodowska

and the eForensics Team
